After the three-day seminar - workshop on Federalism and Peace, Gender and Development and Women Peace and Security, CDES in coordination with Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) Liaison Office holds the Peace Forum at Shan Literature and Cultural Committee Hall, Taunggyi Shan, July 23.
A total of 205 participants come from 70 political, social, and revolutionary organizations in Taunggyi of whom 91 out of 205 participants are women. Soe Nyunt Lwin, Shan State Minister of Planning and Khun Tun Oo, Chairman of Pa-O National Liberation Organization (PNLO) join the forum.
The six speakers of said forum coming from CDES and RCSS include: Dr. Lian H. Sakhong, CDES Executive Director for Designing Federalism in Myanmar, Saya Htay Thein on the History of Myanmar and Peace Process, Salai Za Ceu Lian on the Ongoing Peace Process in Myanmar, Thandar Oo for Women inclusion in the Peace Process, Nyi Nyi Moe on Designing National Dialogue for Shan State, and Sai Sai Ngen for Designing National Dialogue for Shan State.
The event started at 9:30 in the morning with the opening remarks by Dr. Lian H. Sakhong, then the welcome remarks of Major Sai Oo, Director of RCSS Liaison Office in Taunggyi, and Khun Myint Tun, Chairman of PNLO.
After tea break, Salai Za Ceu Lian and Thandar Oo presented their themes till 12:30. Shortly after lunch, session resumed with Dr. Lian's presentation, followed by Nyi Nyi Moe and Sai Sai Ngen till 3:00 PM.
Question and Answer took place for almost two hours in which issues like NCA, Federalism and Youth and Women Participation in the Peace talks and the Panglong Conference were raised. The audience applauded the speakers for their clear answers thus giving a hand to CDES and RCSS for initiating such an event.
