Unswerving in its commitment to national
reconciliation and peace, CDES duly represented by its team Salai Asang,
Project Coordinator, Dr. Moses C. Tehlo, Research Director, Ms. Grace Ngun Za Ṭial,
Office Manager and Dr. Janelyn I. Agbayani moved to Mon State for the two-day
workshop of federalism and peace the second phase, 6-7 October 2016 at the
Hotel Rehmonnya, Mawlamyine.
"Without peace and federalism, we
will fail in this country. In our history, ethnic groups took their arms
against Burmanization. How could we make harmony out of diverse country without
equality, thus the answer is federalism – a federalism that fits our unique
Union, thus spoke Saya Htun of the New Mon State Party during the opening
program of the workshop attended by 35 participants, 16 females and 19 males
coming from various civic, academic, youth and women organizations such as New
Mon State Party (NMSP), Peace Foundation, Literature and Culture Committee of
Mon, Mon Youth Network and Mon National Party. .
Participants were enlightened in their expectations
verbalized during the self-introduction on "How to achieve federalism,
peace and equality, and self-determinism" as they vocally expressed their
deepest gratitude to the CDES for the insightful and extremely enriching
learning experience.
